Pregnancy Week 4
The Wonder Weeks in your belly
At fertilization, the egg cell and sperm cells melted together and since then they have divided numerous times: two cells became four, four became eight, eight became sixteen. So, by now there is a clump of cells. Something particularly special occurs around the 25th day. The clump of cells divides into three layers. The upper layer will develop into the nervous system and the senses. The middle layer into the muscles, blood vessels, kidneys, sexual organs and bones. And the lower layer will develop into the respiratory system and the digestive tract. The clump of cells now also has a new name. From now on, hat baby in your belly is called an embryo!
To do!
Even though you are probably not really considering the practicalities of your pregnancy right now, it is a good idea to start thinking about and arranging a few things.
- Inform your pharmacy and doctor that you are pregnant.
- Know the dos and don’ts for pregnant women!
Time to take the pregnancy test
Time seems to drag out while you are waiting until you can do a pregnancy test. But, the time has finally come. At the end of this week, from when you are one day late, you can do a pregnancy test. You can buy one from a drugstore or pharmacy and you don’t need a doctor’s prescription. These days, you can do a home test at any time of day and they are just as reliable as the test done by a doctor.
It seems like a very simple thing to do, but do consider the emotional impact of doing the test. Don’t just do it casually on a whim but plan a special moment for it. A moment that you and your partner can enjoy if the test is positive or that you can comfort each other if you don’t get that positive result.
